Battery Meters for Lithium... Roypow could be better :)
Looking for a better meter for my Roypow 48v 105ah battery.... Recently installed an Eco Battery in another club car and the meter is much better than the very basic led bar meter i got with the Roypow.
Been poking around and came across a couple but figured i'd toss it out here to see if anyone has any real life experience with theirs :) Thanks Mike |

The Renogy is probably the best available.
The CAN meter now sold by EB is only able to connect to the newer EB's. However, an identical meter to the ones EB had in the gen1 kit like mine is available on line for less than $40.00 and would work great with your Roypow. |

3rd vote for the renogy. I have one in my club car and love it.
I’ve used the Victron energy meter many times in the past as well. It’s pricey, but very nice and offers a Bluetooth app where you can gather additional information as well. |

Are monitors with the Shunt more accurate then ones without or?

You really need a shunt to accurately monitor LiFePO4 batteries for SOC. Voltage alone won't cut it.

With lead acid a simple volt meter is fine, because the state of charge decreases pretty evenly as voltage drops. With lithium the discharge curve is MUCH more flat. So you will maintain a very close voltage at 30% state of charge as you have at 100% SOC. Once you get near the end of the SOC however, the drop off is very quick. Because of the way they hold almost full voltage during the discharge, it’s impossible to gauge your SOC or remaining capacity on voltage alone. The shunt meters basically count electrons flowing through them. They’ll do all the math for you, and watch the amperage that’s being discharged real-time and monitor that. Based on what you program as “full capacity” (90aH, 105aH, whatever you pack is) it does all the math for you and calculates a much more accurate state of charge. Attached chart will illustrate a bit better as well for you |

+1 for the Renogy 500A. It’s the only one I use and recommend.

Another vote for the Renogy. For the first time, I can feel comfortable knowing exactly how much of my battery capacity is remaining.
