Club car ds with solenoids and resistor coils
Hello all,I have a club car with the solenoids and resistor coils. When I hit the pedal it is engaging atleast half to full throttle. I replaced 2 solenoids one on each end of the solenoid pack. At one point I had solenoid activation where the first solenoid would fire and the cart wouldn't go until the next one kicked in. Now it is back to half to full speed at initial activation. I checked the pot box and the micro switches are working properly. Where else do I need to look?

All I can tell you is that I replaced all 5 of the solenoids at once. I thought I would have one, or at worst two bad solenoids, but it was actually 3 bad ones and one that was flaky enough it could have been causing issues as well.

Re: Club car ds with solenoids and resistor coils
The way that system is supposed to work is: First click engages the solenoid furthest to the drivers side, which connects the resistor pack to the motor. Second click engages the solenoid furthest to the passenger side, sending battery power through ALL 3 of those resistor coils - giving the slowest speed. Third click engages the second from the passenger side solenoid, sending power through 2 of the 3 coils. Fourth click engages the next solenoid (middle one), sending power through just the last 1 resistor coil. Fifth click engages the final solenoid, which bypasses all the resistors - sending full battery power to the motor. It's pretty common that 1 or even 2 solenoids can die and people may not notice right away - as long as the one on the drivers side comes on (or stays stuck on) the cart will still drive. Just not with all the normally available "speeds".

Re: Club car ds with solenoids and resistor coils
Yea I replaced both outside solenoids and the cart started acting normal. Then I hop on it again, and boom it hits the tires hard like half to full speed right away. So would you say just change all 5 solenoids at this point or something else?

Re: Club car ds with solenoids and resistor coils
Figure out which solenoid (guessing 3rd or 4th) is welded "on".
