Default 93 G9a wiring issues

Just aquired my 1st cart. I've done all new fluids, new s/g, new battery cables. I removed and cleaned out gas tank and did away with factory fuel filter and installed one inline too carb. I cleaned carb also. I have removed all accessories and its wiring. I got it started and it runs great, literally it runs 16mph per gps.
My issue is when I came out to work on it today, I noticed the back up buzzer was hot to touch, so I did a batt drain test and determined it to be the culprit.
Do I need this component or not, and also I notice that when at full throttle in neutral , I've got 16.60 volts at batt, if I throttle down, the volts go down. Is this normal. I figured it might be that my batt is not at full charge yet, so it's just taking more volts from the s/g, the batt was at 12.89volts.
Thanks for any input

You don't need the back up buzzer. But you do need to figure out why it's drawing power and getting hot to the touch.

The yamaha gas charges pretty hard. This was done with the thought that you would be doing all 300 yard trips. Not long to get that battery charged back up. Your G9 likely has the electronic voltage regulator (that is not adjustable ). The negative effect is that the battery will likely not last longer than 4 years.
