Default Yamaha Drive Carb Spacer

I just cleaned out the carburetor on my 2008 drive. Everywhere i have looked shows a spacer against the motor. Mine does not have it, not even sure there is enough threads on the studs for one.

Did they all have it from new? Seems to run fine without it. Not sure what to think as it doesn't appear to have ever been off either.

Its gotta be there, they all had it. There's not enough room with the air shroud for the carb to join up to the head. Spacer slips over the long studs, and is made out of black plastic.

take a picture. The spacer like cgtech said will get tucked under the air shroud on the engine.

So, I have to admit I feel like a goofball. I put it back together late one night over the weekend, and thought man that seems odd that the head is black there.

Needless to say it is there, I tore it back apart to change the gaskets between the spacer and the head. I will have it back together this evening with a new gasket just to ensure it has a good seal.

Apparently one should quit working after a certain point of tiredness is reached.
