Default 3PG Grenaded piston port

Buddy of mine dropped of a Marathon that would barely run, after a lot of choice words trying to get it dialed in I found this.
Has anyone ever seen this happen before? The piston skirt broke off from the port down...

Think I figured out the cause... Not a drop of oil in the hose from the injection pump to the intake. Tank was full and has oil to the pump but nothing coming out of the pump.

Oil might not be the only issue.

You might want to do a flush of the bottom end with gas when you get it out and the jug off.
After that Check the rod for any play and the main bearings.
Count the balls and rollers.

Usually broken pistons are from over reving, lean condition, or something going through the motor.
Not seeing melting or goaring on the piston. Check the exhaust port side. Usually where it shows up.

I'd say you are spot on with the overspeed.. No signs of scoring and the rod and crank bearings look and feel good.
I split the cases and cannot find any debris anywhere? Maybe it all went to the muffler?
