Default Re: G1 bravo, how to lock the rear end

Got the rear end done and in, got it running and moving, the posi works great.

The thing is I got a 32mm mikuni round slide carb on it ( I had it laying around ) and I can't get it to come off idle with out playing with the pedal alot. I tried 22.5, 35, 40, and a 45 pilot jets, mid range to full throttle it runs half way decent, Do you guys think that that carb should work? Or should I try a different carb? I looked up A stock bravo carb and it has a 78 pilot, maybe I should try something closer to that.

What do you guys think?

Jeez, I drew that picture up about 6 years ago. Good to see someone finally got some use out of it.

I had a 34mm mikuni on my G1 motor. 95 pilot and 200 main. Is it a VM series round slide?

The rear end gears will be under alot of stress. They will have a shorter life because of the added stress.

Here's the skinny on the VM series carbs.
0-1/4 throttle = pilot jet
1/4-3/4 throttle = needle jet
3/4-WOT = Main jet

From a stop, under load...
What does the motor do when you give it 1/4 throttle?
What does the motor do when you give it 1/2-3/4 throttle?
What does the motor do when you give it wide open throttle?

1/4 throttle, It stumble, hesitate, wont go.
1/2-3/4 throttle, It gets a lot better runs half way decent.
wide open throttle, Not bad but could be better.

The main idea is to never let it run lean. That's how things melt.
1st make sure there are no air leaks around the intake.

It sounds like the pilot is very small. I ran a 95 pilot on my 34mm.
What pilot and main are you currently running? The needle jet has 5 settings for the c-clip. Where is it set? What air filter are you using?

45 pilot and a 100 main. The needle jet is set at the bottom setting and no air filter yet, ya I know I need one, just had to see it run.

You should be around a 85-95 pilot, 180-200 main and the needle set where mid-range is smooth. The main is a hex(not round) jet, correct?

Ay I think your right, The carb suppose came off POLARIS XLT 600 TRIPLE, That is 200cc per cylinder, The bravo is a 250cc, I thought It would be closer. Maybe they didn't. I need to do bigger.

The main is the hex one, Yes.

You ran a 34mm on a G1 motor? What did you run for a pipe?

Stock pipe. Alot of porting to the jug, and head shaved .030". 34mm is a bit too large for the 215cc motor. 30mm would be perfect. Try the larger jets and let us know how you make out.
