tire size and speed
have a 99 ezgo txt series cart w/12' ITP SS112 wheels and 205x30-12 tires.
thinking about lifting cart and adding 22' all terrain tires. will this increase speed any? cart used mostly for trips to marina and shopping. |

Re: tire size and speed
It will increase the speed on flat ground, but you will lose some torque (hill climbing power).

Re: tire size and speed
it's pretty flat where im at so it should be good. but does the loss of torque mean I couldn't make it up hills or just up hills slower?
got another quick one, my wheels have a 2+5 offset, do I need a specific type of lift kit for this? |

That offset should be good, it'll give clearance for the tires. |

Yep! Way more fun, i agree. Be cautious at first, 'till you grasp the new center of gravity.

Re: tire size and speed
One thing to consider. When I was looking to replace the tires on my old cart, I found that it was almost cheaper to buy rim tire combo than it was to just buy tires.
Especially when you consider installation, which I couldn't even find a place that would install them around me. I'll admit I didn't look that hard though. I ended up with an entirely new cart... |

Re: tire size and speed
apologies for the delay in getting back.
Finally got the new tires mounted and lift kit on. been at it all week and finished up this afternoon. i really like my SS112 wheels so i wound up taking my old rim/tire set to a local tire shop and the guys charged me 8 bucks a piece to remove 205x40-12 tires and put on Saharas. it was like 40 bucks total. i'll probably post the old tires in for sale threads and see if anyone is interested. I added a pic. still have a ways to go but getting there. looking at storage options now, most likely a front clay basket of some sort |
