1. No, your stock controller is most likely a 275A controller. Seeing a 200A max means that is all the amp deliver system (cables, contacts and connections) will allow to pass, or all the battery pack can produce, or all the motor is capable of drawing.

Since things are getting hot, the amp deliver system is probably the reason why only 200A at near stall.

The controller only limits the current the motor is allowed to draw. The motor will draw all the amps the batteries are capable of will producing when stalled and are the RPM increases, the amount of current the motor is capable of drawing decreases. (Max Amps at minimum RPM and minimum amps at max RPM)
Any resistance in the amp delivery system, drops voltage, which decreases the voltage applied to motor, which in turn decrease the amps the motor can draw ay any RPM.

2. The NPX4844 controller in the 101B package is not programmable.

Comment from the peanut gallery....

If you are looking at upgrading this cart, there may be another avenue.

Sell cart and get an RXV.

Great speed and performance on hills with NO mods.

Good luck !!!

Thanks Johnnie,
Just so I can understand whats out there, can someone explain. Programable speed controllers? Are they better (must be...cost more) what is the benefit? As I contemplate spending $500 - $600 on upgrading my cart, should I consider one?

User programmable controllers allow you to adjust and/or select various perimeters to fine tune the way your specific cart performs, rather than a generic user profile that may not be ideally suited for your cart's motor, tire height and the terrain or they way you drive the cart or what the cart is used for.

The attached images show the various selections and adjustments for Alltrax AXE and DCX controllers, plus what can be monitored and logged on a laptop attached to the controller.
