I want to replace the pre-charge resistor on the solenoid, the solenoid is an Albright club car SW80-1035P 48V what is the correct resistor for this please as some say 200amp and some are 400amp?

The pre-charge circuit draws little or no power. Its
purpose is to maintain the capacitors at battery pack voltage so when the contactor is closed, no arcing occurs. Resistor value is determined by pack voltage. What brand of batteries do you have installed. What are they rated at? Are they deep cycle golf cart batteries? I never seen a battery like the one in your picture, but I haven't seen everything yet.

well it looks like the solenoid is toast, I have done the jumper test etc and nothing, and to make things more interesting when all the wires are on the solenoid apart from the resistor I am getting 47volts across the battery but as soon as I connect the resistor to the 2 terminals I get a massive drop in voltage across the batteries as low as 20volts. whats that all about? must be time for another beer. lol

It seems we had this problem not to long ago. The other person had the small wire that connects to the big posts of the solenoid connected wrong. The small wire should be connected to the large wire that connects to the positive battery post. Check this it might be your problem.

I have contacted the previous owner to aske what problems he had, he said the club car started to get slower and then it just stopped and would not charge and the charger also stopped working, even so I am getting 51 volts across the batteries until I now connect the resistor to the solenoid then I get a massive drop in voltage. I have done the solenoid test and it is dead. oh boy what an headache

Take a picture of your batteries that will show the brand name and model number.
