Check that cable by the arrow, looks like it is pulled out from crimp,..

Since the cables came from an auto store, there is a good possibility they are for 3/8 battery posts and not 5/16.
Also, it appears to be some black substance between the nut and the cable terminal itself. Was there anything between the cable terminal and the battery post itself? |

I sell a lot of cable sets to replace those autozone cables. Those are low count thick stranded wires designed to apply a large instant voltage hit to start a car, and while they will work on a cart they don't work well and very commonly what happened to you is the result.
