Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
XCT500IQ controller, MZJ-400 solenoid, 2ga cables throughout, PQ Bandit motor, 23" wheels and tires. Speed limit disabled in the controller I have hit 38mph and cart has stupid amount of torque. I don't recommend disabling speed limit but I did it to see what it would do and have since limited it to 6200rpm which equates to around 26-27mph. Not saying do this setup or that it's the best situation, just that 20+ mph on 4x12v is very possible. Many more things will be the "limiting factor" before the 4x12v setup is
But I think we are all in agreement there is an issue with his cart that needs to be addressed before making upgrades, something is wrong with it now I got 22-23mph out of the cart on stock controller unlocked, stock solenoid, 4ga cables and PQ bandit motor but cart had almost no torque. Could stop going up a hill and cart would not be able to pull itself up, had to get a running start. |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
My cart with 500a Curtis 1268 and AMD 7144 motor with standard gearing will do 38mph on the flat within 300yards of start. For normal use I limit the speed to 30mph. I do have 6 x 8v battery setup.

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
Hmmm....ok. Let me build a motor shield and I will unlock controller again and video it for you
And I've only been doing carts 5-6yrs and have only seen my share of carts of mine and ones of my buddies that I have modified. So in short your more experienced than I am so I won't argue with you about it. I won't make any speed statements anymore without video to show it |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
Cool speed reports, sounds like most stock carts are at least 16~19 mph so getting there would be a good boost.
Can someone point me what to try next? Is there a extra slow turtle mode that CC put in the cart to limit speed for when his kids were using it? I posted that I tried to re boot the OBC and didn't get the rev buzz to kick in from the sticky info, the roll a way test confirmed that the OBC is seeing the speed sensor. Something I can check or do I have to see the CC dealer? |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
There is a couple of simple tests you can perform, as Joesam mentioned, a "welded" solenoid (or equivalent) will cause the controller to run a 50% power.
Measure the voltage on each solenoid big post (with the key off) and make sure the voltage on the Controller side is a couple of volts less than the voltage on the battery side. If that is OK, drive the cart down hill to see if it goes faster, if it does not, then the controller speed loop is actively preventing it from going faster, which would be the result of a speed code set on the controller. In that case You would need someone with an IQDM programmer to set it back to Speed Code 3 and Speed Cal to 0. |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
OK, Voltage check on solenoid. Battery voltage 51.2 currently. Post 1: 51.2vdc post 2: 49.1vdc
Also there is what looks like a resistor inline on a large yellow wire, looks like someone added it or is it stock? It goes from 1 post of the solenoid to the other post. With it disconnected the 2nd post voltage is 25.0vdc. No I didn't run it disconnected. |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
The resistor, called a pre-charge resistor, is standard and keeps the capacitors inside the Controller charged.
The voltage drop indicates the resistor is in the circuit and working. If You drive the cart downhill and You feel the controller engaging the Regenerative brake in order to slow it down and try to maintain the low speed, that would be an indication it is actually programmed to do so. |

Re: 2007 Precedent 10mph bone stock
No hills here, I can probably get a tow and check it out.
What are the speed programs available? Is there a 10mph mode? The only test it failed ( I think) was I was not able to reboot the OBC. Thanks for the help. edit: If it is a 10mph program what should I have programmed back in to get what I want with the stock batts and mtr? Should I go Speed 4 or 3? What is the difference on a good running stock cart between the two and if I decide to run a bandit mtr what program should that be in? I don't want to do this more often than necessary. |
