2006 Carry All Winter Budget Build

I forgot to mention that I did buy a "donor" cart.
2001 DS with no batteries, controller, or motor, plus the shaft in the rear end was broken off. But the buggy was in really good physical condition.
I picked it up off of CL for $200. My brother went in halves with me.
So now I have a roof, supports and windshield. Extra wiring harness and OBC, FnR switch, Run/Tow switch, pedal assembly and MCOR. Cup holders too!
My brother got the seat (top and bottom) and the rack and pinion steering for his '82 DS. (That old style steering gear is JUNK!!!)

Plus a local golf cart guy at camp sold me a brand new LED headlight / tail light kit with wiring harness and switch for $40

Way to go! Consider yourself lucky to find a "donor cart" especially for 2 bills! Can't even find one around here and if you are lucky to scare up a buggy the best description would be a "pile". It would be more than a pair of Franklins too. It sounds like it has already paid for itself in parts you guys have horked off of it.

Out of curiosity, how did you restore the plastic? Looks good!

The plastic restore is a trick I learned years ago.
Just use a heat gun on them. Below is a video I did for a truck forum a year and a half ago. I've been using this trick for 10+ years and it works great.
In the video you see the step pads for the side steps on my truck. The pads are still nice and black today.

What is the longest period that the heat treatment has lasted?

That depends I suppose.
It has lasted on nerf bar / step pads for 2-3 years. However, when I do the step pads I do not put any protectant on them. Unlike most folks I actually use truck steps / nerf bars. Not that I need to (I'm 6'2"), but because using them makes the side of the drivers seat last longer. Now, I don't put anything on them because a protectant / dressing makes them very slippery...why do I want to fall off?
That being said, I have done fender / bumper trim on vehicles that as long as a protectant is used has last over five years.
Nissan had those goofy plastic fender flares for years and the plastic would fade almost as soon as you drove it out of the showroom. I spent about four hours restoring those on a friend's truck back in 08 and now his son drives the truck and they are still blacker than they are gray....

Got the battery hold downs complete, but I have to say that I am not at all pleased with how it looks....just not "professional" enough for me.
My brother did remind me that this IS only temporary, so I guess I've got that...

Anyway, here's the pic.
I used aluminum 1/8 x 3/4 bar for the tops.
1/8 x 1 x 1 angle for the stops and 1" square tube between the two inboard batteries.
