Replaced bad solenoid still won't pull in
Working on a friend's 98 ds and solenoid was only getting a variance of voltage across large posts so I changed solenoid. Now it still won't pull in. When I measure volts across 2 small posts I don't get any voltage when I step on the gas however I get 50v when I put one lead to B- and the other to small post and step on gas. Also what I find weird is there is 50v across 2 large posts with gas pedal up and resistor disconnected. I tried 2 different solenoids to rule out a bad one out of the box. Need some help on this one

Re: Replaced bad solenoid still won't pull in
It looks like the OBC is not providing the negative side of the solenoid activation circuit.
Disconnect the yellow wire from the small solenoid post and run a new wire from that solenoid post directly to B-. |

Re: Replaced bad solenoid still won't pull in
Thanks sergio will try today. If that does work I assume that obc will have to be replaced or bypassed with an automatic charger?

Re: Replaced bad solenoid still won't pull in
Running b- directly to solenoid worked so I a, going to get automatic charger tomorrow. I plan on cutting black wire coming from charging outlet and crimping a ring terminal on it and running to b-. My only question is does yellow wire on small solenoid post get taped off or stay on along with jumper from b-? I am assuming ground to obc no longer matters.

Re: Replaced bad solenoid still won't pull in
You can completely remove the OBC, but you do need a wire from the solenoid small post where the yellow wire was connected to B-.
Check with Scottyb for a DPI charger. |
