1992 Club Car arcking Forward and Reverse switch
Our old electric cart was not performing well...when it ran the batteries ran down quickly and the battery compartment would often heat up. We noticed that the F&R switch was arcking so we replaced it. It ran for about 15 minutes, still with sub-optimal performance. We we lifted the seat the F&R switch was actually on fire. So something else must be shorted out that is causing the switch to fail. Any input on this would be appreciated.

The solenoid is bad. It's welded closed. Replace the solenoid with a good quality replacement and you should be good to go.

Re: 1992 Club Car arcking Forward and Reverse switch
The F&R that was on fire MUST be replaced..... note that running the batteries low on voltage will cause the motor to draw excessive amperage which will cause excessive heat. The F&R switch is particularly vulnerable to heat damage.
I hope this helps in Havana |

Re: 1992 Club Car arcking Forward and Reverse switch
ScottyB, we ordered a new F&R switch (yes the one we put in was literally fried), solenoid, and a couple of other parts. Hoping to get them in and get this thing up and running soon. Thanks for your help.
