CTD, I must be having a brain loss moment, so help me out.....
In your drawing I do not see the 12v negative anywhere. I see two (2) 48v+ (In and switched), 12v+ out and 48v- to the controller. Where is the 12v- from the reducer that would run to the fuse box next to the listed 12v+.... I have ran them similar to your drawing, but it was using the key switch to power the 48v+ (as long as it was not a "-" switch of course) and still had the 12v +&- to the fuse panel. |

the key word is "ground common"
you hook up 12v- to the common ground remember dc current goes from neg to pos like this |
