Part identification
Hello. In the attached picture it shows a relay/solenoid that I assumed was only used injunction with a winch we had on our 48v Club Car. However, since removing the winch i realized that there are other wires besides battery attached to it, including some from rear lights, but not positive about lights. Is this piece necessary.

Re: Part identification
The small wires are to control the winch relay on and off.
You don't need them or the relay as it was dedicated for the winch. |

Re: Part identification
Thanks, that is what I thought. Would it be possible to power other items from this unit, since it is direct connected to batteries? Personally I don't think that would be smart, but before we disconnected all of the wires, I am pretty sure that at least the 12v outlet accessory was attached to it, and other things, like the rear lights.

Re: Part identification
Me again. You can still see the attached small red wire, that is either from the lights or going to outlet.

I would get new voltage reducer and a fuse block and hookup from there. This way you have the reducer connected to the complete pack and drain on the pack will be equal across all batteries. Here are some reducers from our site sponsors. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/12v-reducers.html http://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/voltage-reducers The small red wire that was on the large terminal would need to be relocated to the fuse block down line from the reducer output if it was power for 12V accessories. The small control wires to the solenoid probably go to the switch that controlled the winch. It's up to you what you want to do with those and the old winch switch. |
