Default 99 electric 48v club car accelerator problems

Cart S/N: A9942-614891

Hello, I'm having intermittent problems with my cart, most of the time it will work just fine but sometimes it acts like it overheats an just stops..let it sit for awhile and it will work again. last time i used it though it wouldnt go from the beginning, cold. i could hear the solenoid click had 52 volts and cart (less than one year old batteries) would start to rock then nothing like it didnt have the power to move. I had to tow it about 2 miles (was hunting) and decide to give it one last try and shazam it worked fine again...... Could the potentiometer in the black box be going bad? i did notice on my way in to hunt that it felt like it was surging some.?? The cart does have a lift and power controller that i got from buggies off ebay. its a

The hot part sounds like something else. But the jerking and not going could be the wiper arm or contact pads being bad or out of alignment. Open it up and inspect it.
