Default Differential fluid leaking between motor & rear end?

I've got a 96 EZ GO TXT DCS that is leaking fluid from the rear diff but it appears that it is leaking from where the motor and diff connect. Is this possible? It is clear that the leak is above the diff cover and drain plug and it is on the drivers side of the cart.

Should I pull the motor and use gasket sealer when I reattach it?

Please help, my neighbors are getting irritated every time I leave a puddle in their driveway.

Thanks!

My guess would be that the O-ring on the input shaft needs to be replaced.

Meanser, have you replaced the diff oil? What weight and how much oil did you use?

I replaced the fluid this weekend and have not yet had a chance to drive the cart more than a few feet since the change but there are no puddles under the cart. I dropped the diff cover when I changed the fluid, resealed it and painted the cover red to match the cart (I was inspired after reading G-Man's recent post). There was very little fluid in the diff when I dropped the cover. I used Royal Purple 75W 140 to fill it and used approx. 10 ounces of fluid.

What threw me off was that I had thought my leak was from the cover but when I climbed under the cart it appears that it is leaking from above the axle tube.

I'll get a good test drive in tonight to see if it is still leaking and if so, a better idea from where.

its pretty common for them to leak from the Input shaft O ring. Par Cars and EZGOs both have the issue. Make sure it is not over filled and the check valve in the axle tube is not clogged

Where is the check valve on the rear axle tube?

Yamaha makes a very nice kit to keep all yall happy for years. Kit includes new bearing, new o-ring (both common source of leak), and a oil slinger to keep oil off that bearing where its not needed anyway. Taper in slinger points toward gear teeth. The part number is "99999-JU200-00". It fits every dana electric axle i have ever tried (yamaha, ezgo, par car). Not for rxv, it has a different seal.
