Default Whiplash throttle

Today I used the '89 Electric Marathon (with stock tires), to do some spot spraying in the pasture and the jumpy throttle drove me crazy.

It seems there is no way to ease into it, just a little pedal movement produces a forward lurch, I assume it's when the mirco switch closes.

Is there anyway to produce a gradual delivery of current to the motor with the resistor system? If not, will changing to a solidstate controller give me the results I desire...?

changing to solid state will definately give you a smoother acceleration, it will also save your cart if you are doing low speed spraying... Resistor carts were not designed to go long distances at slow speeds......

yes changing to controller will give you the smooth you desire but if all resistor coils are good and wiper board buttons and moveable arm are all working it shouldn,t be jerky.......won,t be as smooth as silk but shouldn,t be jerky either..................................

Scooter, check to see that the throttle micro is adjusted so that it closes BEFORE the wiper moves to the next lug...

Other wise you could try a jumper on the micro just to eliminate it from the equation.... if it is still jumpy then it is the throttle assembly.

The resistor set up does only have a few throttle signals where as the pot is infinite...

Thanks guys....

I've been holding-out on dumping the resistors, as the cart works great racing & beating the neighbor's TXT on the highway.
But I bought it from him to use here on the ranch, so I guess we'll have to make the switch to solid state.

If I put 22in tires on it, how big a controller will I need for crawling around the pasture..?

Thanks again for your input.

with 22's you can run a 400 but a 500 will be far better..... and a 700 would really make it come alive
