Default Re: 1996 DCS--Solenoid Clicks Won't Move

I installed the DCX 400 controller and I'm back running again! I didn't need to do anything with the solenoid. I certainly appreciate everyone's input and help.

One thing.....I've noticed a burning smell and checked under the seat and the cables are very hot! Do I need to upgrade them? If so, what do I need and do they come in a kit where I can get them all in one order? Seems like even the ones disappearing under the controller and possibly back to the motor are getting hot.

Thanks for any help.

If they're the stock cable, I'm pretty sure they are 6Ga, You need 4Ga or larger.
Several of the Site Sponsors have them in sets.

I replaced all 10 with 2Ga and got them here:

I guess we weren't very good help if we couldn't convince you that you needed to upgrade the other parts in your system that work with the 400a controller ???

The cables are hot because they cant handle that larger controller. You need at a minimum 4g cables. The Solenoid wont last long either. I just hope when it fails you wont be far from home when you have to push or tow it. Just remember to place it in tow before you do.

So I've seen several different sets of cables online. I know I need to upgrade all the cables between the batteries but what about the cables going back to the motor and to the controller? If I'm going to replace all of them how many cables do I need?
