7 batteries?
I just purchased a 2001 exgo cart. It has a high speed motor that came factory. I am sure this is a 36v model, but I have 7 batteries and it doesn't make any sense why there would be 7. If it matters, the cart has lights, a stereo, and roof fan. Any thoughts on the additional battery?

Re: 7 batteries?
Welcome to BGW!
Is the 7th battery a 6v unit or a 12v unit? How many filler caps are on it? What size are the cables that attach to it? |

Re: 7 batteries?
If the 7th battery is a 6v battery with 3 fill holes... then you have a 42v system.

I have seen people install another battery for a little bit of gain but the charger want keep them fully charged. I know a stock PDS cart system will handle 1 extra battery. I personally don't see any benfit in it though. |

Re: 7 batteries?
It is wired up just like all of the batteries so I guess this is a 42 volt. Here is a link to the picture:
https://picasaweb.google.com/109907116827799765236 I don't know how to post pic's in this forum yet. If this is in fact 42 volt, what are the advantages and disadvantages? I am about to do a complete re-wire so I would like to know this before I go too far. Thanks for all the quick responses! |

Re: 7 batteries?
The cart is wired for 42 volts, but unless you have a 42 volt charger there is absolutely no advantage. If you are using a 36v charger on this system you are UNDERCHARGING each battery, and because of this they will not last as long as they should.

Re: 7 batteries?
So, should I pull the extra battery, to go back down to 36V?

Re: 7 batteries?
What charger are you using? What is the charger output rating? There should be a sticker or plaque on the unit.
