Default New EZGO cart -- where to start?

My family just got an EZGO cart given to us with no batteries and we really don't know where to start. I looked up the serial and it says it's a 1998 EZGO TXT, but I don't know anything beyond that.

It definitely needs a new battery cage, since there's a bit of rust and it gives a little.

Where do we begin to just get this cart up and running? Anything in particular we should start working on?

Thanks for any help and I'll keep perusing the forum -- lots of great info here.

Shop around for 6 new batteries, That should be a 36V cart. Check the stickies for wire diagrams and go from there. Make sure your cables are in good shape!

You can buy a replacement battery cage online. It was discussed in the forum a while back, use the search feature. Get batteries and cables. use the wire diagram in the sticky.

But Be warned, this activity will become very addictive......

I figured out this is a Series cart and will be getting some batteries next week.
I'll put some pics on eventually too.
