No. If you put it in tow mode it definitely won't run. You wont fry anything like this. You're accomplishing the same task with the paperclip as the MCOR when the internal limit switch closes. You're just doing it manually.

here is a pinout of the wiring that you can test with an ohm meter right from the controller connection.

put tow/run in tow position first ...then disconnect battery pack negative first

for instance #6 and #10 connect to the Micor Micro switch...

My '07 Precedent with new batteries last year is surging or jerking at slow speeds but runs fine when the peddle is on the floor. I'm wondering if I'm having solenoid problems...mcore?? I've checked the connections to the battery and they are tight.

Mine did the same thing. I replaced theMCOR and it runs smooth again. 2006 Precedent

DJBlade is correct. If you had a solenoid failure the car would slow itself to a stop accompanied with a reverse buzzer beep beep beep. Get your car up to full speed and turn off the keyswitch.... That will give you an idea of what would happen if the solenoid failed while driving.

UPDATE...after a long recovery from a back injury I was finally able to fix my cart issue. It was the MCOR. I jumped it with a paper clip like Tahoe dawg said and it worked. Picked up a new MCOR for $120 at the local club car repair shop and 30 min later good as new. Thanks for all the help. Tahoe Dawg.. you da man..
