Exclamation Battery neg cable/OBC

What is the purpose of the negative battery cable to go through the OBC (computer)?

I'm replacing all the cables and I'm sure the new one will not fit through that hole?

Can I just bypass that OBC and delete the old cable?

I think thats what turns the charger off. Measures the current maybe?

It moniters the carge rate, and state of charge look up some threads by Dr Bob I think he is the one that studied it.

So do I leave it hooked up and just add the new #4 cable, running two leads?

Lots of people did that, most had no problem but a better way is to make a stud to go through the OBC and connect a cable on each side of it.

Scotty has a great turn key solution. I used a similar method using a stud, nuts and sleeves for a coax cable as a sleeve to run through the OBC. Took a little cutting and drilling to get the sleeve right, but it worked
