Default Replacing one battery at a time

Is it bad to do this? I am just wondering because I will need new batteries at some point soon, but I dont have the $600 to drop on them all at once. So, I was wondering if I replaced them one or two at a time a bad idea. My train of thought is to get them all replaced and keep replaceing the oldest one each year.

bad idea... It will cost you in the long run more that way.
The older batts will bring down your new one/ones and you will be replacing
the new ones sooner.
wait till you can chang out the full pack, or find a used batt that is close
to the same age...if you can get them at a cheap price.

I was always told it was best to have as close to a matched set as possible. The old batteries will pull a new addition to the pack down to the older batteries level and you will never have the benefit of all the power or life expectancy you would get with a new set. I have never tried it with a golf cart, however I have with a semi truck that takes 4 batteries. It didn't work to well with the truck. I have a friend in the same position as you, he is replacing one at a time with used batteries on an as needed basis while he saves for a new set. He replaced three last year, but they only cost $25 each at the local battery shop.
