Headlights Dim
Just acquired a ez go cart not sure of year due to the tag missing. Question is the headlights go dim when accelerator is pushed. Lights are wired to two batteries. + of one and - of another battery. I have 12 volts according to multi meter accross the two batteried that the lights are wired to. This is a 36v cart.

Re: Headlights Dim
What is the measured voltage of the entire cart.....Should be 38.+ when charged. If the charge is full, you may have a motor dragging, brakes dragging, or some other item causing a drag on the system. The lights may just be giving you an indication of another item failing.

Re: Headlights Dim
I had the same problem, and its usually because the batteries are going bad and you need to replace them! That's what i did and everything works great now.

Re: Headlights Dim
Agree with golfcart2, this usually means that one or both of the batteries the lights are hooked to are dropping out under a load, an easy way to test this is to jack up the rear end. put your multimeter on the two batteries the lights are connected to and push the accelerator down with the key on and see what the voltage drops too. You can tell the year of most batteries by the markings on the neg post...will say something like c7 or a1, whereas the c would be month = march and the 7 being the year = 2007, most batteries last 4-6 years so that will give you indication of if its about that time.

Re: Headlights Dim
Had 36.7 volts across the cart and cart has not been on the charger since last Monday. Still need to check the age of the batteries and test batteries under load to see what the voltage is on the batteries the lights are connected to. Thanks for all the help.

Re: Headlights Dim
Cart should always be charged.....full charge is 38.5+....36 volts is almost 50% dead.

Re: Headlights Dim
In addition to all the previous advice, you should also check individual battery voltages after 12 hrs rest. The two batteries powering the lights may be unbalanced from the rest, (this can & does happen when powering accessories this way), and need to have additional charging seperately from the rest of the pack. Good luck - RAY
