Re: Ezgo Marathon...Kinda
OK, So I have Repaired the old EZGO TXT Charger. It needed a new Fuse and 2 new Resistors and Boom it was back to life after about a 3 Year break. My next step is to take the end off of that charger and put the Marathon end on. I have the EZGO marathon Charger receptacle and charger handle kit coming in the mail. I have a brand new 4 Gauge battery cable Set. I ordered another brand new Solenoid Resistor. I ordered a Brand new solenoid Diode. I ordered a brand new micro switch for the F&R Switch because 1/2 went bad so now we will have reverse back. I have ordered a 25 foot 4 Gauge battery cable to cut into the sizes I need to wire up the rest of the cart Controller, Motor, F&R Switch Ect. I know a better Idea would be to Order 25ft worth of 4 Gauge welding cable but I have read and heard that this will work almost as good. I don't think things will get Too hot with 4 Gauge battery cable because 6 Gauge corroded cable used to be on the Motor, Controller, and F&R Switch and things didn't get hot so I think it will do "OK". I cant wait to ride this thing when its done. It should be finished anytime from now until the end of next week. It might even be finished by this weekend if my parts arrive...Who Knows.
I will keep everyone Posted, Here's some pics, Matt |

Re: Ezgo Marathon...Kinda
Electrically, 4 gauge is 4 gauge. The difference is mainly mechanical. The more strands you have, the more flexible the wire is. From the looks of it, yours will probably be pretty stiff. Also, welding cable insulation is much more chemically resistant than other cables, but you didn't specify the insulation you have.
I've never soldered thicker strand cables, but welding cable seems to wick up the solder quite well. |

Yurtle I don't know exactly what to Look for so I will write everything that is on the Cable.
Cerro Vinylon-A 4AWG (21,2mm 2) (UL) THHN OR THWN-2 OR MTW OR AWM GR2 SUN.RES. VW-1 600V-C (UL) TWN75 OR TW90 NYLON That is what is written on the cable is there anything useful there? Thanks, Matt |

Re: Ezgo Marathon...Kinda
There's nothing wrong with your cable other than what I mentioned before. It's not designed to be flexible at all, so I'd try and use it where there's no constant flexing, so avoid using it to and from the motor. Beyond that, just try and keep it clean.
