Default Rough ride ezgo

I recently added a bed to the rear of my 1987 ezgo and in an attempt to beef up my rear suspension, because of the bed, i added new gas charged shocks. I added two automotive shocks not golf cart shocks. Ever since adding the new shocks i have noticed a lot rougher ride. Are the normal shocks on the golf carts not gas charged shocks? Thanks for all your help

The leaf springs provide the suspension and shocks merely dampen the bouncing. Look into HD leaf springs.

Yurtle is correct. But to add to it, I think what you may be experiencing is a matter of "over shock". That is the shocks are designed to work with a vehicle from 3 to 4 times heavier than the cart. When you hit a bump and the spring reacts, the shock immediately limits the bouncing. Just what it's supposed to do. But it's doing it for a 3 or 4 thousand pound vehicle, resulting in very little shock/spring travel.

Thanks for all the help. I will change out the rear shocks and put the regular ones back in it.

New cart shocks, I hope. And don't forget Yurtle's comment. If you are going to install a "bed" it presumes you are going to haul things. You will need the support the hd springs will provide.
