Default Can you lift a 1998 EZGO DCS 36 volt cart?

My friend just bought a 98 ezgo DCS 36 volt cart. He was wondering if he could install a lift kit with ATV tires. If so, what mods will he have to do without upgrading his motor and controller.

Check the search feature. This issue has been discussed several times and I believe the general concensous is he will need to replace everything up to the motor.

Being that is is a DCS cart I would not lift it without putting on a larger controller.

Installing bigger tires on any golf cart changes the final drive gear ratio.

Changing from 18 to 23 inch tires changes the gear ratio by about 30%.

The stock components are not over sized in the least bit. They are engineered for 18 inch tires on the golf course. Any cart with big wheels and stock controller is headed for controller failure.

DCS carts can be used off road but they need to be upgraded just like all the rest.
Controller, cables, & solenoid.
