Newbie with noise problem
2008 RXV, key switch forward/reverse, run/tow switch, 48 volt, so I assume it is a Regen, PDS motor, high speed gears, no lift, 10" tires, flat terrain, max speed 33mph golf cart and neighborhood transportation only
The cart makes a loud whine when pulling at all speeds, but not when coasting. I have been told I need a higher torque motor. Do I need a new controller, solenoid, wiring kit, etc? |

Re: Newbie with noise problem
Have you checked the oil in your differential? Ya never know? Start with the simple things. 33mph?

Re: Newbie with noise problem
Let's find out what you have, what you described doesn't add up.
Plug your serial number into this website to find out how and when it rolled out of the factory. http://www.shopezgo.com/customer-ser...ialNumber.html An RXV has an AC motor. A PDS is a Sepex DC motor. What is the differential ratio, should have label on it. (Stock is 12.44:1) 10" is either tire width or rim diameter. Both are cosmetic. What is Tire height? (Stock is 18" IE: 18X8.50- Getting 33MPH means a lot has already been done to cart, so you have to figure out what you have before you can determine where you need to go along the line of cables, controller, solenoid and motor. Like Gonk said, check the differential oil. |

Re: Newbie with noise problem
The serial number is 5002083, RXV, electric 48V, RXV Standard, 2008.
It has a run/tow switch, with F/R on key switch. In some of my research, it shows that to be a PDS. I do not know the gear ratio. I clocked it with a speedometer app on my phone. I compared to car and it seemed accurate. I don't care that it goes that fast, 25-27 would be fine. It has 205 50 x 10 tires, 18" high. The current motor is: Iskra Polje 15m Sempeter PRI Gorici Made in Slovenia 3 Phase AC Motor AMT 7109 30V 3.3 kw 11.217.026/601882 DC 48V class H Rotation <> 12.05.2007 Differential Oil has been changed by the dealer and rechecked-all good EZGO tech said it sounds like I am reaching upper limits of the motor. Maybe the high speed gears are putting too much load at all speeds. The cart does not start sluggish and accelerates good. Runs good, just noisy. |

Quote:
EZGO website says the serial number belongs to a RXV. The F/R is integrated into Keyswitch = RXV It has an AC Motor. = RXV If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. ---------------- I screwed up on the stock gear ratio. 12.44:1 is stock for most EZGO carts, however the stock gearing for a RXV is 16.99:1 To get 33 MPH on 18" tires with a 16.99:1 gear ratio, the motor will have to spin at 10,470 RPM. To get 33 MPH on 18" tires with a 10.5:1 gear ratio, the motor will have to spin at 6,471 RPM. To get 33 MPH on 18" tires with a 8:1 gear ratio, the motor will have to spin at 4,930 RPM. I'm guessing, but I suspect you've got 10.5:1 gears and the cart maxes out at about 31 MPH, or maybe a bit slower. (6,000 RPM = 19 MPH with stock tire and gears, which is the published speed of a RXV - Freedom cart) ---------------- I don't know much of anything about RXV carts, so I can't help you much about what to do with it. If you started a new thread with RXV in the title, you might attract the attention of some of the people that have RXV carts and know something about them. |
