Default How much play.........

I am in the shop and typing from phone using tapatalk. I have my cart sitting on jack stands and grabbed either front tire and they both have some wobble at the spindle. I have a brand new axle.

What is normal vs bad????

1997 ezgo txt series. Hopefully some of you masters are still awake. Thanks

Is the wobble on the spindle or behind it? The kingpin bushings are not terribly long lived.

Also check the wheel-bearing adjustment.

If I recall, you asked a while back about slop in your steering box. Did you replace it or rebuild it? Is the slop in the tie rod ends?

Here it is.

I haven't checked mine lately, since we discussed, but since this really isn't meant to be driven the way we drive these things, there may just be some slop that we have to live with. I know that even after replacing my steering box and one tie rod end, steering still gets a little squirrelly above 30 or 35.

OK! First thank you so much for the tips!

I put it on jack stands and took the front tires off. I then inspected the hub and one hub spun freely and one did not do so well.

The issue so far is the amount of travel up and down where the spindle mounts inside the axle. I replaced the kingpin bushings with new ones. How much travel should there be in the spindle sliding up and down?

-------

Yurtle I have solved a whole lot of slop after constantly fixing or replacing everything! LOL. It is still a little little more loose than i would like but works much better.

There's probably 1/4" in my old axle, but then again it is old...
