Mechanic says motor burned up???
Cart seems to run fine at low or medium speed. When it reaches top speed, after a second or two, it has some resistance and slows down a little and continues to run under some felt resistance. Sometimes it smells a little hot when this happens. Took it to the shop and the mechanic says the motor is burned up. Does this sound correct? Would it run fine at slow and moderate speeds if the motor was burned up?

Re: Mechanic says motor burned up???
I'll see if I can obtain more information. This was father in law's cart. My son drove it a while and the next day it was acting as I described. He told me he took it to the shop and the mechanic said the motor is burnt up. Just seems strange that it would still run relatively ok at slow and moderate speeds if the motor was burnt up. Just wondering what else could cause the symtoms.

Re: Mechanic says motor burned up???
Probably a DS IQ...... And yes I've seen motors that will run fine, but the brushes are so brittle if you breathe on them wrong they'll fall apart. The commutator on the armature may also be distorted and in bad shape. So yes, it's very possible for a burnt up motor to run. Especially if you smelled it.
