Re: Voltage meter install
I was curious. It looked like it should have worked, making certain assumptions on the key switch. I thought I read once that RXV SOCs operated on a 0 - 5 volt signal. Perhaps the meter is powered as he did, and the 0 - 5 volt signal comes from the grey wire from the controller?

Re: Voltage meter install
Did you cut the harness off the SOC port, or did you use a tap? I'm hoping my voltage meter comes in tomorrow or Saturday, and also my voltage reducer. I was originally planning on running the voltage reducer straight from the battery, but I may run it from the SOC wires so that it will be switched. Does anyone know of any wires that are under the seat that are also switched?

I spliced in and secured with a wire nut and electric tape. This way is nice b/c the meter is only on when the key is on. |

Re: Voltage meter install
I just finished my meter installation, but used the black and yellow wires so the meter is 'on' all the time. The installation in my old CC was done the same way and I kinda liked being able to observe the meter w/o turning on the key.

Re: Voltage meter install
For seldom used carts, having the meter on is a bonus. This way you can check the pack as you walk by.... also good for finding the cart in the woods at night

Re: Voltage meter install
If the meter has a current consumption of 15-20mA, how long would it take for the meter to lower the battery level?

Re: Voltage meter install
Many years ago, I read that leakage across the top of the battery is about 50ma.
Seems like I measured the draw of the ScottyB meter when I installed it on my CC, it was about 5ma, IIRC. Forgot to check this one. |

Re: Voltage meter install
Got my meter in yesterday and installed in today. For now I just have the wires jammed into the factory SOC plug until I get the hardware for permanent installation. At that point I'll probably tap into the yellow and black on the switch.
