Does anyone have any tips on motor changing?
I am getting ready to change the motor on my 2010 Precedent. Since I am not as young, strong, skinny or dumb as I used to be, I am not going to try to lay under this cart and change the motor. I am thinking of taking the back body off and doing it that way. Since I have never taken the body off, are there any short cuts or tips you may have? What holds the black plastic panel on that is behind the seat? Also it has a flip back seat, so that is one more thing that needs to come off. I am going to 4 gauge cables in the future, would it be wise to do it all at once? Any tips would be appreciated.

Re: Does anyone have any tips on motor changing?
For sure change the cables while you have the body off
First thing I done was to remove the top, remove the rear seat kit taking notes as to where the bolts come from, then remove the front seat, remove the black plastic front seat back rest, unbolt the body panel and remove it then you can access the motor relatively easily. I am 60, old, fat, clumbsy, and can't see, and it took me about 4 hours to disassemble and reassemble everything I now just brint it to my local tire shop and use their car lift and replace the motor from underneath That is the easiest way OR Just bring it to your local Cart Shop and get them to do the motor swap out for ya, but, I bet you are like me and HATE to pay someone else to do what YOU can do YOURSELF I am an Engineer, and I just HATE paying someone more then I make, plus I enjoy the playing around with this stuff Hope this helps ya a little Dale D |

I pull it through the access panel. It will be So much faster than removing the top, rear seat, body, etc...even if you have to use a little more @ss

I too am getting a little "long in the tooth". Also have a rear seat. When I changed my motor, I put the rear up on jack stands. Then I got my motorcycle lift and put it under the axle. Then I pulled the brake cables and the bolts out of the leaf springs. All I had to do then was lower the whole differential with motor attached. Slide the assy out from under the cart and the motor right in front of you. Very easy to change. Reverse the process and you are done.

Support it with a small floor jack just enough to take the pressure off. remove rear access panel to access mounting bolts and wiring. It is simple and quick. Make sure you use 2 wrenches to remove motor wiring. Use one to hold the nut on the stud next to the motor while loosening the nut holding the wires.

Yes, those motors are heavy, and if you are getting on in years, might get some YOUNGSTER to help ya out.
I still have the want and ability right now, but, I am getting on, hahahaha WHen I get a helper, it is simply for BACK BONE, not BRAIN POWER, hahaha Have fun doing it, and like someone else said, BE SURE TO USE 2 WRENCHES ON THE WIRING AT THE MOTOR Dale D |
