So far we're just about the only neighborhood in the county that hasn't lost power. I'll take it.

Tahoe feel for you in the south, we are set for this, we have genny power for when we need it, furnaces that can keep us warm. My bil is in Charolette they are not amused.

Here's the math. The batteries have 2Kw hours each. Times 3 batteries = 6000 watt hours. Two lamps @13 watts each =26watts X 24hrs =624 watts. It would take 9.6 days to use 6000 watts. 4.8 days if you only want to run it to 50% SOC. The losses are minimal. The fans on the converter probably won't even come with that load.

The power just turned back on late last night. I lost it almost immediately after I sent that message that said I still had it. It was no fun. Batteries lasted just fine powering two lamps, a night light, and two iphone chargers all night. Glad to be back.

You're right. We're definitely not set up for it because 99% of the time we don't need to be. I'm 31 years old and I've never seen anything like this. It's like the slowest moving tornado ever. There are broken trees everywhere. It sounded like a war zone with all the cracking and popping of the tree limbs. I hope this never happens again in my life time.

We had the same sort of major ice deal here in 2009. It was one of the wildest things I have ever seen or heard. I stood on my front porch in amazement. The trees have recovered now for the most part but it was certainly the land of broken trees for a couple of years. Took months to get the power poles fixed. Glad you guys are ok.

I really feel for you all down there too. What is normal to us with regard to winter is a huge natural disaster to you all. I know what you mean about the cracking and popping, our back porch roof caved in two nights ago!

How'd that quake affect you all?

It didn't. I heard it but it's no big deal really. I didn't spill any beer over it.
