Yipeeee !! I take it that you already have a replacement type connector on there! Cleaning and reconnecting at a new spot is good. You can help keep that connection from corroding going forward by brushing a very light coat of grease (something light, like white lithium or even Vaseline) on the strands in the cable and also all over on the terminal and post before firmly reconnecting.
