6-8 volt vs 8-6 volt
I'm converting my '94 ezgo to 48 volts and was looking for the pros and cons of using 6-8 volt batteries vesus 8-6volt batteries. From what I have read 8 batt. will give longer run time but how much? cost and weight vs bennefit? thanks for any input.

Re: 6-8 volt vs 8-6 volt
8 volt batteries cost a little more but have less runtime when compared with a 6 volt. General rule is the more lead you have the more run time you have. I would guess about 20% more run time with 8 six volt batts.

Re: 6-8 volt vs 8-6 volt
It is capacity vs space issue. Using 6 volts you have 225 Amp hours, and 8 volt you have 190 a 8.4 % difference

Re: 6-8 volt vs 8-6 volt
It will be used for hunting and riding around in the woods so the longer run time is a plus if it is a bennefit over the extra weight.thanks for the replies. any other pros for 8 batteries over 6

Re: 6-8 volt vs 8-6 volt
Does the cart need new batteries? If so I would go with the 8v. If not I would find 2 used batteries to add on. I don't know exactly how much extra run time you are talking about? 30% more lead mathmatically equals 30 minutes runtime? I don't know that anyone ever timed this out. 2 Batteries weigh 145 pounds ...

Re: 6-8 volt vs 8-6 volt
I don't think anyone has actually ever timed it. Don't bother using "math" to figure it out because its all gonna be different from cart to cart. I do know if I were out in the woods I would want as much run time as possible so I don't get stranded. You will definatley get more run time from 8 six volt batts. Most put them in the bagwell. If you have a cargo box or rear seat you won't even notice them. HD rear springs will be a nice add-on too.
