Lithium charging options...
Pretty much everyone that has done a DIY lithium conversion has either spent hours and hours looking into charger options or pushed the easy button and got what Joe did.
I'm sure a lot of people doing their research would love to hear from members on they finally decided on and why. Please include: Brand: Model #/Part #: DC output Amps w/ 110v input: Cost: Where purchased: Any Pros/cons: Would you get it again: Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Re: Lithium charging options...
Brand: Waouks (china)
Model #/Part #: 58.4V 10 amp DC output Amps w/ 110v input: 10.4 (actual) Cost: $90 Where purchased: Amazon (link below) Any Pros/cons: Not CAN bus enabled, inexpensive, it stops at 58.4 exactly. Would you get it again? If quick charging is not a requirement and overnight charging is the norm this is a good option. I would buy again, if it were in stock... 58.4V 10A Charger 58.4V LiFePO4 Battery Smart Charger Used for 16S 48V LiFePO4 Battery High Power https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CXQBQ8D..._1aGtCb51JQE3W Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Re: Lithium charging options...
I have the ElCON TC 1800W charger. http://evcomponents.com/elcon-tc-hk-...w-charger.html
If memory serves me right, mine is set to charge at 16amps. I have it set up with CanBUS interface so I can make the charging settings using my ZEVA BMS. Cost: $225 (Don't buy from China as they cannot program for CanBus) Pros\Cons: It works like it should. Charging is faster than my old FLA's. Cons....none that I can complain about. Would I buy it again? Yes. Absolutely. Why?....because I can change the settings of the charger from my BMS monitor. I'm a control freak and like that option. Dave |

Are you actually seeing 16 amps output on 110v with it and did that price include programming and shipping? Thanks, Jeff Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Re: Lithium charging options...
This charger works fine for me. Takes overnight to fully charge because it is only 5 amp output. I like that it has 4 pre-determined cutoff voltages. 56.4V is the lowest and it actually charges to 56.6V. I don't remember all 4 voltage options. They have another model that is programmable with a laptop but it requires a special USB adapter that is as expensive as the charger itself.
Brand: Mean Well Model #/Part #: ENC-360-48 DC output Amps w/ 110v input: 5 amps output Cost: $74 Where purchased: www.Jameco.com Would you get it again: Yes. Pros: Comes with 4 pre-determined cutoff voltages for flexibility. The voltage is set with a dip switch, rotary knob would have been better, but once you set it you are not likely to change it again anyway. Small footprint, easy to keep in the cart. Cons: if turned off but still connected to battery pack it becomes a drain on the pack. 5 Amp is the largest of this model charger that Mean Well makes. If I need a 30 minute top-off charge I use my old golf cart charger. |

Re: Lithium charging options...
I pulled up the website. The price has since gone up to $90.
My charger is 6 amp, not 5 like I stated. The peak V on each of the 4 settings is 56V, 56.8V, 57.6V and 58V. It says it is a "desktop" charger, but I keep mine in the cart beside the batteries. https://www.jameco.com/z/ENC-360-48-...s_2255541.html |

The link I provided to EV for the charger buy...if you notice....has a list of questions for the buyer to complete the information. So, the price includes programming. I made the mistake of buying from a seller in China and I think because of the language barrier, I got mine "hard wired." I then sent the unit to EV and they changed it to a CanBus connection for $108 including shipping. |

Re: Lithium charging options...
EV Battery Center came up with a bunch of 11 amp chargers. Ping Eye 3 posted this in the Club Car Lithium section:

Is there any setup or special programming required for the Zeva BMS to control this charger? I’m new to the canbus game, trying to figure out how everything communicates. |

I made this CanBUS diagram a few months ago (well....I put in the comment bubbles) as to how canbus is set up and works. The CanBUS setup needs to have a "termination resistor" at each "end" of it. If you purchase the ZEVA system, the ZEVA monitor has one resistor built in. So, you just need to buy a termination resistor (cheap little thing) for "the other end." The resistor's prevent a "looping" of data transfers so your readings won't get "jumbled" with old and new data. (That's my amateur explanation!!) |
