![]() Mike
Go thorugh the air box, checking that all the parts inside fit in there proper place, and that the top fits on the bottom correctly to stop all air leaks. Make sure the 4 rubber straps are there and sealing the top to the bottom. Good luck Mike Mike, I believe your air box is leaking air. If it dosn't seal well it will not run right. |

![]() It seems to run the same, with or without the air box. Maybe tonight I'll take all the duct tape off the air box and start over. The rubber parts that holds thelid on are all there but the lid is warped up. thanks mike 701

![]() My air box wasn't put together right when I got mine. So I took it out of the car and put it together on the work bench so I could make sure it went together correctly. If yours is warped, it may go back together if you get it to fit right, because it is trained to fit that way originally. Make sure the O ring gasket is in the top as you assemble.
Turn idel mixture screw out one and a half turns (starting point). The Big Guys will be by to help I'm sure if you can't get it going! Have you cleaned out the gas tank and new filter? Gonna need it soon anyway. Keep at it Mike |

![]() Ya, 1988, that is a possability. Doing a compression check would tell you there.
Yamaha's are picky about air boxes sealing, maybe all golf carts are, I don't know? But it's not gonna run till he gets all the parts in order. Then he can go forward with what ever he wants to do as far as mods. But I'd make it run first. Guess he's behind the fan right now!! Mike, you'll get it, hang in there!! |

![]() Engine "timing" is internal of the engine, the cam and balancer are "timed" with the teeth on the crankshaft. Might try one thing, the negative battery cable goes directly to the end plate of the starter/generator. Yamaha "pigtailed" a small 18 gauge wire into the eyelet with the main cable, cut back the electrical tape, cut off the small wire, put an eyelet wire end and attatch it with the main cable on the stud (it is the main ground for the wire harness). The reason I say this, your cars ignition, (TCI/Ignitor) runs off open and closed ground...bad ground and it acts like its out of time. Hope it helps. It's worth a shot.
