How to make the ride softer on the new drive2
We have a 2017 Yamaha Drive2 , A/C Motor, with a 3" Jakes Lift kit, and
22" Rohx Redhawk DOT Approved tires on Rohx 14" Vegas rims. I also installed a rear seat, and added the $225 Jakes HD Rear Shocks for the rear seat. We ride on pavement/ sidewalks and wondering did the HD rear springs stiffen the ride that much? Or is it the DOT Tires are a stiffer tire? Any suggestions to ease up the ride on it? I thought about putting back the stock rear springs, but we do put adults on the rear seat from time to time Thanks for the help |

It's the HD rear springs, but it's gonna be unstable at most speeds with stock springs, a lift, & 4 adults.

Re: How to make the ride softer on the new drive2
If we only ride with adults in the rear 10% of the time, would it make sense to go back to the regular rear springs?
Could going back to the regular springs and carrying adults back their do any harm , like crack the rear axel or anything? Those HD springs kill the Yamaha ride |

To the axle, not likely. If the cart rolled over on the side of the road, I suppose yes..
If you go back to stock, please keep speeds low when loaded with 4 people. |

Re: How to make the ride softer on the new drive2
Hmm thanks, we really don't ride adults back their much. I know the feeling you mean going back to stock. It feels like its on ice at higher speeds.
I'll have to think about it I was going to take the brand new tires I just bought off it, as I thought it was them making it a stiffer ride. Then I thought about dropping back to a 12" rim instead of 14" to get more sidewall to help with the ride. I'll give it some thought, or maybe go back to stock and see how much better of ride it is Thank you |

I just talked to the wife, she wants to change them back. It's way to stiff of a ride
What's the best way to change them with the rear seat on now? |

Re: How to make the ride softer on the new drive2
In the future if anybody needs this for help, I just jacked the frame up and put the rear frame on jack stands. I removed both rear tires, and went in from the sides and bottom, you will need another Jack to lower the rear end and raise it to the height of the bolts on the shocks.
Took an hour to do both sides You just want to make sure you keep the shock neutral meaning you have to take just a little bit of pressure off the shock by jacking up the rear axel , both bolts will easily come out by hand once you loosen them Took it for a test ride much better back to the factory ride again |
