Default Buy new motor, or rebuild?

Hello!

I have a 2008 Turf 2 Carryall DS350 that I recently purchased at an auction. It’s a pedal start.

I hooked up a compression tester, and I realized I’m going to need the motor rebuilt or replaced. I have 42 PSI on the cylinder.

My questions are, have you ever rebuilt one? Would you do it again? Can I even still get parts? Where can I get them? What will it cost (ball park)?

Or

Can I still get a replacement motor somewhere? Where? How much (ball park)?

I’d very much appreciate any insight you can bring to the table.

Thanks,
Luke

Also, I know this will be unpopular... but I'm not looking to increase speed or top end. Just looking for reliability and something to end up close to OEM

I put new rings seals and gaskets on my 92ds 4 years ago. It's still running great.

Did you squirt some oil in the cylinder and re-check to see if the compression comes up? Possible the rings are just washed down and it needs some run time. You've tried to run it and it wont start? Or does it just run poorly?

Club car still sells brand new engines that will fit it, but they're couple grand easy. Check with David at Revolution. He can get you prices and options for new Vs rebuild.

Just curious could it have automatic compression release (ACR)?
