Default One for the ages

1997 Club Car gasser. It will not run unless you put gas in the cylinder. The fuel pump is pumping, the carburetor bowl is filling up, the jet is clean, but it just won't draw into the cylinder. When it does fire up on what's been put in the cylinder, it blows flames out the carburetor. I have tried everything I know to on this thing and some things that were "just for kicks and giggles" and I have yet to get to the bottom of it. Thanks people.

Have you put your hand over the carb to see if it is pulling vacuum? checked compression? could be some carbon between the intake valve and seat. Jumped timing?

It is pulling vaccuum, and it runs fine when it runs.

I just had a thought, and I think that the gasket between the head and carburetor may be bad. I'll check on that and see what I come up with on Saturday.

I'll also look into the carbon build up.

NO NO, check the compression. It sounds like the intake valve is either stuck open or burnt. Car53

sure sound like somethings wrong with that intake valve. We had an old brigs water pump that had a *hole* in the valve and did this

15psi compression.
Exhaust valve stuck.

I've got the valves cleaned up and head spotless now. I tell everyone to use Shell, Sunoco, or Texaco gas in their carts no matter what. Don't use Bill's Quik Mart, Taxidermy Shop, Air Strip, Bar, Desk Manufacturing Facility, and Gas Station gas.
But they never do, I guess 3 more cent per gallon is outrageous.
