Default club car voltage question

Hi guys,
I have a club car 2016 cart and blown head light globes.
Couldn't find any numbers on the globe advising its voltage.
Tried a 12 volt globe and it blew out immediately.
Tested the voltage and found it 33.3 volts?
Is this normal?

Or are their genuine globes 12-48 volt?

Thank you in advance
Paul from Downunder.

What voltage is your cart? 2016 should make it a 48 volt (originally), so 33.3 would be very low - unless there is a voltage reducer, in which case that voltage is too high. There were some 36 volt bulbs back when all the electric carts were 36 volt. Some of the modern LED kits are built to take 12 up to 60 volts - to cover full charge voltage on a 48 volt cart with a little forgiveness. Even those that the LEDs can take the full voltage can't run accessories like turn signal flashers or a horn on anything more than about 16 volts.

Hi thanks for reply.
Its a 48 volt system for sure. Globes are 12 volt.

Factory wiring not touched by anyone.
Im guessing the voltage reducer is burnt out putting 33 volts down all lines to globes.

Or is the voltage reduced within the controller??

Thanks again.

Voltage reducer is a separate unit. Some are 48 down to 12 and take their source power from the entire battery pack. Some are 16 down to 12 and are designed to take their source power from just 2 - 8 volt batteries. Since taking power off just 2 batteries will run down those 2 more than the rest, I consider that type about useless. But the 16 to 12 was an OE Club Car solution once upon a time. I wonder if your voltage could be the result of someone wiring the 16 to 12 across the entire pack???
The blue one is an example of the 48 to 12 (though may be other colors), the black is an example of the 16 to 12.
If you're going to do it, get the 48 to 12 reducer. It will help keep your battery pack balanced which the 16 to 12 will not.
