Default 1991 Club Car Choke..?

Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a 1991 gas CC. The air box and hose did have the typical melted holes but they have been JB welded and no longer leak. If I place my hand on the air box intake the cart starts when cold after a few cranks. BUT if i try to cold start while only pushing in on the choke it takes a minute or two to take off. I feel like the choke is not making a good seal. I am nervous about taking it apart but does anybody have any quick fixes for this?

I thought about using adhesive to glue a round circle of rubber to the carts body so that when the button is pushed a seal might be made.

Thanks for any suggestions... Also I am fairly certain that the carb needs attention... not sure if this could be affecting anything.

I’d give the carb a good cleaning before diving too deep into the choke.

On my 93 I don’t think I’ve ever even used the choke… first start even after it’s been sitting for a few weeks I ease into the pedal for the first couple seconds (which isn’t a big deal because I’m backing out of the garage anyway). After that first start just drive like normal. Even over Christmas last I used it it was like 5 degrees with a windchill of -20 and still didn’t need choke, and while it’s out of the wind in my garage it isn’t heated and it gets da*n cold in there

If the carb and throttle linkage is operating correctly you really shouldn’t need much choke, if any at all.
