Default 84 electric ezgo marathon 10 spline motor

Does anyone know if there is an upgrade option for my older 10 spline motor on my 84 ezgo marathon cart? I’ve got an email out to Plum Quick asking them. Just thought I’d see what, if anything, people may have done with this setup. Thanks.

Ok while I’m waiting for some perfect response to my question 😜… I’ll propose a second question. It appears as though the motor I have on my 84 marathon doesn’t have a whole lot of options for “upgrade”. So, the obvious solution would be just to swap out the rear end. Has anyone done that or heard of that? Any major pitfalls?

there are upgrades for 10 spline motors... clubcar and yamaha used them too in fact my 93 yamaha g8 has one. I read somewhere they are interchangeable but not 100% sure if they all are.

If its a 36v motor the biggest upgrade you can do is get a solid state controller like an alltrax and go to 48v with the 36v motor.

BTW you'll want to check for compatibility but these are 10 spline motors. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...N1BDI6QEK&th=1

Just finished installing alltrax controller from carts unlimited the other day. I’m just looking ahead and trying to figure out what to do next. The motor seemed obvious although this motor seems to be in fairly good shape, even given its age. I have 18” wheels and get 12-13 MPH out of cart, which for my setup is (from what I can tell), right about what I should expect.

Before I do the motor I have to replace the batteries though, they’re going on 8 years old and I’ll go to 48v then.

I’ll look into using 10 spline Yamaha or club car motors from D&D thanks.

Im looking for the same motor, 10 spline EZGO. Any luck with the yamaha or club car motors? Did you use the adapter plate from vintage golf carts?

I still run the stock 36v motor in my yamaha. when I went to 48v lithium I saw a huge increase in power and speed from 14mph to 20.

There is an old Ezgo 10 spline that is not the same as modern CC 10 spline.
I had a customer go through this and he sent me some pictures.
Be sure your motor coupler looks the SAME as this not just 10 splines.

Lots of people install a newer rearend to allow modern motor use. Generally anything Ezgo, CC, or Yamaha 1987-88 and up will be compatible with modern 10 or 19 spline motors.
