Default battery meter light woe's

Just purchased a lighted battery meter for a 36v. ez-go.directions say to wire light off pos/neg on back of key switch, and the meter pos/neg of batt. I Only way I can get the light to put out sufficiant light is to wire it straight to the batt (36v.) As it is now the light stays on..anyone have any tips... are thoughts on how i can get it to work with switch are maybe a toggle switch..I would really like to wire meter and light to work with switch. If anyone has a solution I would gladly Drink a FEW beers in their honor......

I did the exact same thing on mine.... same problem.

There are 3 terminals on the back of the lighted gauge.

One goes direct to the positive on the last battery in the pack.
One goes direct to the negative on the first battery of the pack.
One gets spliced into the positive on the other side of the key switch - meaning - wire it to the positive that turns "on" when the key is turned.

The test for this - when the key is turned on the gauge comes on. When the key is off.... you know the rest.

Does your key switch work the light's too! How many wires coming off of the meter it self you bought? We need to know what kind of hookup you have first.

Do you know if the meter light wants 12v or 36v?

If 12v, we can do it right at the dashswitch. If 36v we would need to run a single ground wire back to the main pack Negative.
