Solenoid???
Hello, my G9 solenoid just clicks when I hit the gas, the batery is new and fully charged. Does this mean the solenoid is bad. Any ideas on what to do.

Re: Solenoid???
If your solenoid is clicking, then it is working.
I would reccomend checking the starter, because when the solenoid clicks, its supposed to make the starter start running. |

Re: Solenoid???
Sometimes the brushed get jammed when they are worn so try tapping on it when go to start it. You will probably have to take it apart and clean everything and replace the brushes.....

Re: Solenoid???
Take a volt meter..... put the negitive lead onto the negative of the battery, then put the positive lead onto the (big post of the solenoid going to the starter) push on the accelerator...you here a "click" ? but is battery voltage going thru the solenoid ? If not..bad solenoid. If it is.....starter/generator problem, like YFL says. Good luck Dave

Re: Solenoid???
Small black wire from the generator to the solenoid on the passenger side normally get corroded from inside it is the only source of ground for the engine
Replace it or try a bye passed with a jumper wire see if it starts common problem on G9 |

Re: Solenoid???
Thanks! Can I replace the brushes without removing the starter, and does anyone have a good part pic for a starter so I can see what I'm getting into?

Re: Solenoid???
You have to take the starter off the cart to replace the brushes. Its not very complicated and I know either myself or some of the other members will be happy to guide you along if it is the brushes. Give us an update on what you find out when you test it!
