Default older charger help

I have a older EZGO charger that has a dial 0-12 "hours I suppose" and a amperes needle that goes from 0-30 amperes. How long do I need to charge the cart using this type,I was told untill it goes to 0 on the amperes or will it shut off by it self when charged regardless of the time left.I found 2 batteries were bad using a load tester and hydrometer and replaced them,I just put it on charge with the dial on 12 and the amp meter on the charger is showing about 19.Thanks

I have an older Ezgo charger that has the timer, but the timer does not work. It will keep charging until...... It does lower the charge rate but still too high for a trickle charge. As far as I know, it has no cutoff untill unplugged or turned off.
If you have bad batteries that won't take a charge that charger will over charge(ruin) your other batteries.
I'm no expert, but this is to warn you if you have your batteries on the charger now, disconnect and read other post. Good luck.

That charger is a Semi-auto charger. It will shut off when the timer runs out OR when the batteries are fully charged no matter how much time is left as long as its working correctly.

So, does that mean my charger will eventually cutoff too when fully chargered.(82 model) I have been afraid to let it run that long at very minimal charge rate. Is that ok to do. Timer does not work...

If it is working correctly then yes. The minimal charge rate is a finish charge. Also, Its been my experience a completely dead pack will take 10 hours to fully charge....I'm sure it varies some.

Then when you plugged it in it was not fully dead. 2 hours will not charge a fully depleted set of batteries.

Let those set an hour and then take a reading. They wont be 40 volts.

No It is not suppose to and wont activate unless there is 20 volts in the system.I read on this sight that it is suppose to be that way.
