yamaha g2 primary drive clutch bushings (fitment issue)

When rebuilding my clutch, i pressed in new bushings Well the bushings dont fit over the crank snot. To small diameter!! Not sure if they were oem becuase it didnt specify on ebay but the description said they were for a g2. they looked excatly the same as the old ones. They were not damaged by the press either. I honed the out a little but not confident with them so i am ordering OEM bushings. I hope these fit properly, you shouldnt have to hone new bushings in my opinion. I read ont these forums of 2 other people having the same issue. Maybe someone can shed some light on the issue. Some fellas on here steered my straight on buying oem only products so i did learn my lesson. I just wan some reassurance the the oem bushings WILL indeed fit tight on the snout. thank you

You should have no problems with OEM bushings.

The problem is that some of the after-market stuff isn't made to correct tolerances and they don't fit,or need to be reamed after installation.Go with OEM whenever possible.The prices are so close on alot of the stuff,its' not worth the headache of making it fit to save $5!

Very smart to buy from venders here, or make sure its "genuine Yamaha parts!!" Or both!

In my experiance, even OEM bushings can get destorted when pressing them in. I've alway's had to ream or hone them.

I was kinda thinging the same thing. But I needed the sheave anyway. I think the best way to go is to buy the sheave for $53. (3 yrs ago price), and have the bush and seals already in place!

Just an update, I got all the new bushings in and they were OEM bushings that came in sealed yamaha bags. These ones had the same outcome. The whole golf cart is stock so there is no reason why they shouldnt have fit. My buddy had a tool that he lent me that shaves bushings down little by little for these situations so I did get them installed and it came out great. I dont know why yamaha created this situation where the bushings require to be shaved to fit. Anyway, its nice not having the clutch real loose and rattling like it used to on the crank snout. Feels like a new cart

FWIW - I had exactly the same experience when I did mine

. The fit was close but still too tight. I wrapped some wet or dry paper on a dowel and worked the ID slowly to get the fit right. I think there were just a few high spots on the I.D. Glad it worked out for you also. - RAY
