Default Fuse blows with each attempt to start

Hi: Had trouble getting the "starter" to turn the
enginme using the key and short circuited the
solenoid to use the cart for a while. Finally bought
a solenoid thinking it was the problem when it
wasn't. Some helpful people on this forum suggest
I check the fuses and microswitches which I start
doing when somebody who used to use the thing
mentions they always started it up in reverse not
in Neutral like I've been trying (on the dashboard it
says to start in Neutral). At first I doubt it but
checking this forum discover that it can be set
to start in Forward or Reverse. I try the key and the
engine turns over and actually catches (so close)
before it sounds like the battery is getting low. I
confidently setup the trickle charger and look forward
to jumping in and driving off later that day.
Later I jump in to said cart, turn the key and nothing.
Resisting the temptation to push it into a lake, I try
short circuiting the solenoid and yes it turns over fine.
Notice the fuel gauge isn't lit when the key's on and
check the fuses again. One of the 3 fuses (10 amp)
is blown (I find only 1 fuse on the wiring diagram).
Run out get some new fuses (not so confidently) and
they just blow each time I try to start with the key
(gas light works with intact fuse). Any ideas? Thanks

Hi: There was a little wire-thing going
from small terminal to small terminal which
I disconnected from one terminal but
upon trying to start the engine there was
a short "clunk" sound (maybe the solenoid
engaging) and then nothing. The fuse
had been blown. Thanks

Well, I took a look at the wiring
diagram you mentioned and compared
it with the wiring in the club car. It
was soon apparent to me that I had
the wrong diagram. There's three red
wires going to one of the large terminals
that in the diagram only has two. Maybe
I have a special edition club car. I almost
give up but decide on continuing to check
the diagram against what's in the cart.
Hmmm. That's odd there's a red wire
missing from the other large terminal...
definately the wrong diagram. Hmmmm!
A mising red wire at one terminal and
an extra red wire at the other terminal.
Some idiot replaced a solenoid that did not
need to be replaced and in so doing actually
wired it wrong. That idiot took a picture of
the wiring so he could double check things
in case of confusion. Obviously that idiot
wasn't smart enough to even know he was
confused as he confidently scrambled the
wiring and deleted the photograph. There
was a glimmer of intelligence in realizing,
after he had rewired possibly correctly (including
diode), that he should have taken note of
which wire had been wrongly placed on the
terminal with the wire from the battery. Anyway,
being a forgiving golf cart, it turns over without
blowing a fuse and once again the battery sounds
tired so the trickle charger is hooked up for a while
before another test later today.
Thanks for that diagram, it may have taught
me more about myself than about the cart
